Using an authenticator app

An authenticator app generates a new 6-digit code on your phone every 30 seconds. This is more secure than a code by e-mail: the code doesn't travel over the internet and even works without a connection. Well-known apps include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and Authy. Once the app is active, you'll no longer receive e-mail codes.

Setting up the app

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone.
  2. In My WebOké, go to Login details in the menu at the bottom left.
  3. On the Two-factor authentication card, next to Even more secure with an authenticator app, click Set up. See the image in The login code by email (two-step verification).
  4. You'll now see a QR code (1). Open the app on your phone, choose to add a new account and scan the QR code.
  5. Can't scan it? Then type the Manual key (2) into the app. Choose a time-based code when doing so.
  6. The app will now show a 6-digit code for WebOké. Enter it in the Code from your app field (3).
  7. Click Activate. You'll see a message confirming the authenticator app is now active.

Changed your mind? Click Cancel (4). Nothing will change and you'll just keep receiving codes by e-mail.

Please note: don't share the QR code or the key with anyone. Whoever has them can generate the same codes as your phone.

Logging in with the app

After entering your password, you'll now see the Enter your authenticator code screen. Open the app, type in the code shown for WebOké and click Verify. After five incorrect codes, the login process stops for security and you'll need to start again with your password.

Switching the app off again

  1. Go to Login details. The card will now show Method: Authenticator app with Active.
  2. Click Turn off authenticator app.
  3. Enter a code from the app, or your password, and click Switch off.

From then on, you'll receive an e-mail code again with every login.

Tip: getting a new phone? Switch off the app first and then switch it on again on your new phone, or transfer your accounts using the feature your app offers for this. Lost the app and can't log in any more? Contact support without logging in, see Contact without an account (guest ticket).
